Pitcher Plants capture more insects each summer than any other type of Carnivorous Plant. By Fall, each leaf fills an inch deep with insect carcasses. Leaves form hollow tubes that allow insects in but not out! Colorful markings, delicious odors, and sticky nectar attract insects. Once in the traps, insects lose their footing on wax covered walls and slip to their death. Spines propel bugs deeper inside. Pools of enzyme water digest the proteins from the insects in a few days.
What you will receive: You will get a dormant plant, that is ready to pot up, be put into a sunny window, and explode into rapid Spring growth. Plant the horizontal rhizome half exposed to the sun at soil level, and bury the roots in pure peat moss. New growth will emerge from the end of the rhizome and sometimes from the base of the old leaves. Enjoy!
| Sarracenia flava 'Huntsman's Horn' |

Huntsman’s Horn. Elegant fluted trumpets rise above the swamps. We’ve seen plants 4 feet tall, with mouths so wide, you could fit your fist inside! Some forms have colored veins. Others have a blood red band below the “hat” which gives them the chilling name “cut-throat Flava.”
| Sarracenia leucophylla “White Fringed Sweet Pitcher Plant’ |

The Sweet Trumpet. Dazzling white traps attract night flying moths and insects. In the Spring, leaves grow flat, like normal plants. Mid-summer, when moths are mature, it grows hollow tube traps just in time to catch dinner.
| Sarracenia minor ‘Hooded Pitcher Plant’ |

Traps can grow several feet tall. Unique translucent windows confuse insects so they cannot find the escape route. The weary prey falls to the bottom and is digested.
| Sarracenia ‘Cobra Nest™’ |

World’s first patented hybrid carnivorous plant! Hooded leaf traps grow in abundance, and look for all the world like snakes rising from their den, about ready to strike their prey. Cobra Nest branches more freely, and grows more easily than wild species. Leaves turn beautiful red with strong sunlight.
